In October of 2023, we had the pleasure of being invited to the Bedell & Breedlove Facility in Bend, OR with the idea of picking out some wood and designing some customs for the shop. We were completely blown away by their Wood Library, their Attention to Detail, their proprietary Sound Optimization Process, and mostly their insane love and level of care for EVERY ASPECT of what they do. From responsibly sourcing their materials to putting the shipping label on the box.
After our amazing factory tour and checking out their insane wood library, we got to work. We spec'd 5 custom parlors (it's no secret how we feel about these, right?…They are absolute CANNONS and perfect couch guitars). The idea was that they’d all have the same specs but with different wood sets that showcase their wide variety and range. We also made it a point to use parts of the back wood set for each headstock overlay, so you can get a sneak peek of the back of the guitar while looking straight at it. This is number 1 of 5. It features outrageous Stripey Ebony Back and Sides and a Vibrant/Responsive Adirondack Spruce Top. The result is something bright and top focused with the perfect amount of Bass/mid-range to perfectly balance it out. The guitar is so responsive to how you play; soft when playing gently finger-style, and an absolute cannon when strummed. It almost feels like a living/breathing thing. It truly is spectacular.
Aside from the beautiful appointments & tone woods selected, Bedell uses their proprietary Sound Optimization process to bring out the ideal frequency range in each specific guitar to give you the perfect balance of consistency and goosebump-inducing clarity and richness.
These 5 guitars will forever be special to us and we sincerely hope that they are treasured for life in their forever homes.
