Used 1973-1975 Ovation Viper w/Gig Bag
A killer Ovation Viper from the 1970s. Based on the bridge & body not having a tummy contour on the back you can tell it is an earlier variant. These are great vintage guitars for the money. Built in Connecticut, they exemplify some of the 70's guitar manufacturing approaches. A bridge with 6 individual brass saddles, 24 frets, & high output T style single coils. There are really nothing else out there like the Viper, & they're finally starting to be appreciated. This is a vintage guitar with a few modifications. The original Ovation Schaller tuners are long gone, replaced with Pings. The pickguard seems to have suffered a break & has a black piece cut & fitted to what was missing which the output jack is mounted to. The only other thing is the strap buttons are non original. The truss rod functions as it should & still has plenty of room to move. The guitar is tonally super bright & cutting, it is wired from the factory to have the highs stick when turning the volume down. Makes sense why Glenn Campbell, Sonic Youth, & a number of other alt. bands have utilized them over the years.
