Magnatone was extremely well known for their amplifiers from the 1960s, many did not realize they produced various high quality instruments ranging from the late 50s - mid 60s. The Starstream series of instruments were American made and their attempt to break into the guitar market. The Zephyr X-5 was the most affordable model of the series and shared similarities with a Fender Jaguar & Strat while still entirely possessing its own DNA. They were available in a few different finishes, this started life as a white sparkle that has now aged to a lovely cream / yellow. They were designed in part with Paul Barth of Rickenbacker fame, & really are some unique instruments from their era.
The guitar shows plenty of age. The finish is yellowed and has dings, exposed wood, & plenty of checking. Everything functions like it should. The tuners are a bit sticky at certain points on the gears and the only thing non-original is the bridge which had to have the holes drilled out to properly fit it.
