A vintage 1973/74 Gibson EB-3L bass. These were introuduced in roughly 70/71 and had a few iterations throughout its run. This one of the latter variants which is evident due to the solid headstock. This one is a gem priced to sell due to a few very minor modifications and playability issues that can be solved with a babicz bridge replacement. Unfortunately we can't get a 100% confirmed year because the pot codes are covered by the factory solder. Still you can make out they're 70s. Bass has checking but is in pretty stellar shape for its age. Light play wear, dings, scratches etc... no headstock break, and the truss rod still has plenty of movement.
Sounds massive! and has the signature EB bass sound of thumpy mud and stranged honk. A really amazing affordable vintage bass that is still pretty unique and special.
- Mahogany body
- Maple 3 piece neck w/volute
- Rosewood fingerboard
- 34" scale length
- 12" radius
- 2 volumes & 2 tones
- 4 way pickup / tone selector (1: front pickup, 2: back pickup, 3: pickups in parallel, 4: front pickup with notch filter)
- 1 Mudbucker with coil in cavity
- 1 Minibucker bridge pickup
- Schaller tuners
- Gibson 3 point adjustable bridge
- Bass weighs 8 lbs 15 oz
Some mods / problems are as follows
- the original strap button on the back of the neck has been filled. A set of black strap buttons has been installed as well as a odd one on the horn of the bass.
- The bridge cover still has the original foam mute that has deteriorated quite a bit and causing buzzing when on.
- Bridge came stock from factory with Gibson "goof hiders"
- Action even with bridge decked is still a bit on the high side. A Babicz Gibson replacement bridge would most likely work wonders!
- Non original truss rod cover
Bass is in "Very good" shape, again has wear and quirks mentioned above. Included is the original chipboard case. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
