Used Yamaha SG1500 Oil Stain Finish - 1982 w/OHSC

This is a rare bird from the 1980s. It's a short-lived Yamaha SG1500 from 1982 with some pretty ornate details that are perfectly fitting for the time. The Yamaha humbuckers in this guitar are super powerful, punchy, and articulate. The guitar itself has some expected wear and tear and has been priced accordingly based on these details. Still, this would make a great players piece as these guitars have a cult following for a reason.

Condition: "Good". This guitar shows it age as expected. It's still a great high quality instrument that is entirely play-able. In general it has plenty of dings, scratches, etc...

Notes

  • Gold hardware is heavily worn
  • Frets have wear that is visible under the unwound strings. The guitar still plays cleanly
  • In general the poly finish has a cloudy look to it. (this is pretty common with these oil based stained finishes from Yamaha when it comes to these instruments)
  • The nut is possibly replaced, it's very well done though.
  • The truss rod functions as expected.
  • On the treble side of the neck pocket, the binding sits ever so slightly proud in the cutaway.
